Sometimes patients are unable to obtain their nutritional needs through the traditional route. In cases of malabsorption, trauma, ileus, failure to thrive or congenital enzyme deficiency, parenteral nutrition may be necessary.
Parenteral nutrition is the administration of nutrients through a central line inserted into the vena cava of a patient. Through this catheter, the individual receives all their daily nutrient requirements such as glucose, amino acids, electrolytes, vitamins, minerals and fats.
The name of the solution is called TPN (Total parenteral nutrition). Receiving TPN outside of the hospital allows patients to live a more normal/regular lifestyle.
However, we at HealthQuest Infusion understand the importance of closely monitoring our patients. At HealthQuest Infusion we provide the patient with more than just administering the TPN. Our team becomes actively involved in your care by providing a comprehensive nutritional evaluation, continuous monitoring and follow-up education for the patient and the family as well as ongoing support.
We want you to feel comfortable and safe in our care, and we vow to do everything in our power to make this more than just a nutritional experience. We promise to treat you like a member of our own family.
